Reader Request: Camel Crew Neck Cardigan

I recieved a request from Rachel, who by the way, writes a very cool sewing blog, shoes and sewing (check out her latest Anthro knock-off skirt, it's pretty incredible). She said:

"I noticed that you take reader requests in some of your posts. I have one if you don't mind. I have searched and searched for a simple camel colored cardigan similar to J.Crew's Jackie cardigan [...] I have looked everywhere I can think of online as I have no good stores near me. I live in a small town in south Alabama. If you can help, I would appreciate it."

This was a tricky challenge, to be sure. I found a lot camel colored cardis, but not the fitted crew neck variety. If I were Veronica Mars (and sometimes I wish I were) this challenge would have cost an extra fee for the extra digging involved. I, of course, don't charge for my fashion sleuthing, and find fun in the challenge of the hunt.

Here's what I found:

Port Authority Cardigan - New Egg Mall
August Silk Cardigan - Overstock

I hope this is what you were looking for!

Rachel wonders if any of you have any knowledge of August Silk sizing. If any of you have any experience with their clothing, please leave a comment, so we can all be more informed!

If you ever have another request, or if any other readers have one, don't hesitate!

Thanks for reading, and as always,

Happy Shopping!

  4. Heidi Jo,

my email address is uberchicforcheap@gmail.com. It's in my "about me". I should probably get a contact page or button or something fancy for that. But, I don't really write html, I just bumble around. We'll see what I can come up with.

I saw that sweater yesterday and FELL IN LOVE with it. I will start looking today. I will probably post on it next week.

Rachel- You are very welcome. I think the only time I have ever bought anything from August Silk was abbout 10 years ago. I am not sure about the sizing. Is there a size chart there? I'll post a question in the post and see if anyone else has any August Silk knowledge.

  5. I'm a new reader but I totally appreciate the fact that the clothes you pick are thrifty AND fashionable. Lately I have been loving the "hand made" details on clothing, especially on the t-shirts at jcrew. I just wish that everything at jcrew weren't so expensive.

  6. Thanks Cindy! That's definitely the goal.

I too, am totally in love with J.Crew's handmade looking goods. I look at their clothes all the time and try to figure out if it's actually possible for me to make it myself. Sometimes I try it, sometimes I fail, but when I actually do it, that's the best.
