Down the Runway: Pastels

In the recent blog survey, one of you requested that I post more on runway trends. I am not generally one who watches the fashion week for inspiration, but I got an email from Forever 21 singing the praises of pastels on the runway.

I love the springy color inspiration, and found a few pieces with similar color (in more reasonable form for everyday life):

1 - Ruffled Neck Cardigan - Old Navy - select colors $15 (Orig. $26.50)
2 - Perfect-fit Cascade Tee - J.Crew - $13.97 (Orig. $29.95) {PSSST - J.Crew is offering an extra 30% off clearance until Thursday, Use code: EXTRA30}
3 - Scoop Tunic Tee - Wet Seal - $6.50
4 - Linen Dolman Cardigan - Forever 21 - $22.80

What do you think of pastels for spring? Is it something you would wear? What do you think of the picks?

Reader Request: Shorts (Above & at the Knee)

I got this email request from Cerina this week,

Could you suggest a good place to get longer shorts? I'm looking for some that are shorter than Bermuda shorts, but long enough I feel comfortable to wear in public. :) Thanks!

I found a few options that are above knee length for Cerina, and a few that hit at the knee for those of you that are looking for that length.

Inspired: Anthro Look {Picnic Favor}

In my second post about Anthropologie's outfit series "New Glory: a modern nod to the red whites, and blues", I am tackling another patriotic ensemble. Picnic Favor looks to be especially comfortable for summery weather.

{$481}

The original is actually a dress. I went for a skirt/top combo instead and I swapped the tube top for a tee for a myriad of reasons:

U-Neck Tee - American Eagle - $6.95 (Orig. $15.50)
Printed Cotton Sheen Paper Bag Skirt - Tulle - $22 (Orig. $55)
Spring and Colors Necklace - Etsy - $29
Kimchi Blue Whipstitched Flat - Urban Outfitters - $34
TOTAL: $91.95

What do you guys think of the anthro look? The picks for less?

Spied: Celosia Cardigan Look-a-Like

A few weeks ago, I posted a look for less of the J.Crew Celosia Cardigan. It was a pretty good color match, but was missing the oomph of the ruffles. So, imagine my surprise when I found a dead ringer for under $30!

Check it:

Sweaterworks Ruffle Front Cardigan - Nordstrom - $27.90

Look for Less: Juicy Couture Print Skirt

I don't know about you guys, but I love Glee. It has been one of my absolute favorite shows to watch this last year. And one of my favorite things about Glee? Emma Pillsbury's wardrobe! It's full of cardigans, pencil skirts, Mary Janes, and really interesting accessory choices. I love the color experimentation whether it's unexpected color combinations or tone on tone on tone.
L-O-V-E.

So this next look for less is actually an item spotted on Miss Pillsbury in the show (via the look 4 less):

The Juicy Couture skirt is actually sold out.
Polka Dot Skirt - Alloy - $32.90

I recently stumbled onto what may be my new favorite blog, What Would Emma Pillsbury Wear?, and it's seriously fantastic. From this blog, I learned that she has worn this skirt in two previous episodes, including the chalkboard scene of the Showmance episode (shown below).

And she is wearing this skirt in a recent promo (that looks so great) for the upcoming episodes. You can read all about that here.

What do you guys think of the look? Do you guys follow Emma's wardrobe on Glee as closely as I do?

A Favor

{via we heart it}

Hey guys!

I put together a very short survey and was hoping you could take a minute (literally) to fill it out?

XOXO

Friday Wishlist: Silky Linen Slouchy Pants

I am sure I have told you guys this before, but I pretty much live in my skinny jeans. I really like the silhouette, but sometimes they feel a little restrictive. The other night at the blogger meetup, Meg was wearing these, and I fell in love with them:

Silky Linen Slouchy Pant - J.Crew - $69.50

Don't they look so comfortable? It's almost like wearing chic little lounge pants in public. I love it.

What do you all think?

GAP: Extra 20% off Sale

I got an email announcing an extra 20% off clearance from the GAP today. I love extra sales on clearance. They are the best deals around!

Here are a few things I wouldn't mind picking up:

The Ultimate Cardigan - $23.99 (Orig. $49.50)
The Fatigue Skirt - $11.99 (Orig. $49.50) {fantastic deal!}
Pleated Placket Shirt -$27.99 (Orig. $49.50)

What do you all think? Is this sale enough to get you to bite?

Spied: Sateen Ankle Pant

I have a crush on ankle cropped pants. This is a wee bit of a problem in the fact that I am 5'-2", and when I purchase said pants they must be hemmed or they basically look like normal length pants. I don't mind hemming them to get the perfect length - it's just I don't want to spend a boatload of cash on a pair and then have them altered. I found these fantastic cropped pants at Charlotte Russe (and they're on sale):

Sateen Ankle Pant - Charlotte Russe - $20.24 (Orig. $26.99)

They are pretty reminiscent of the J.Crew Minnie's. But I love that these come in navy and with that sweet nautical belt. These are part of the 'Loveboat' series at CR which is on sale (online and in store) for 25% off. It's full of plenty of sea-faring inspired goodies to satisfy everyone's spring cravings.

What do you guys think of these? How about ankle cropped pants in general?

Store Spotlight: Heart Design Jewelry

Recently, I was perusing Etsy looking for a necklace for a look for less post. There were about a bazillion results in my search. Do you guys find Etsy as hard to search as I do? I don't have 4 hours to find one item (well, maybe I do - but, I don't like admitting it in public). However, some miracle occurred during my search, and I stumbled upon this jewelry shop full of fresh water pearl and stone handmade pieces for a steal:

1 - 18" Turquoise Necklace - $12.80
2 - Black Freshwater Pearl Necklace - $14.80
3 - Red Coral Necklace - $14.80
4 - Mixed Brown and Rose Freshwater pearl Necklace - $13.50
5 - Freshwater Pearl Necklace - $15.50 (l-o-v-e)
6 - Swarovski Crystal Ball & Freshwater Pearl Bracelet - $18.50

Check out Heart Design Jewelry.

Look for Less: J.Crew Ethereal Ruffle Cardigan

I included this cardigan in an inspired post a few weeks ago. At the time, I didn't realize that it was a dead ringer for this J.Crew cardigan.

I really don't think they could be more similar.

Ethereal Ruffle Cardigan - J.Crew - $88
Ruffled Button Down Cardigan - Charlotte Russe - $24

What do you guys think of the look? How do you think they compare?

{via a room somewhere}

I just love this. I want to frame it and put it up on my wall.

Inspired: Anthro Look {Bike-About}

The latest crop of outfits at Anthropologie revolve around the tried and true combo of red, white, & blue. I was excited about the unexpected combos reminiscent of summer. I am so excited for the heat of summer. The fourth of July is without a doubt my favorite holiday. I love sunburns, barbeques, swimming, and fireworks. As a kid, I always wore red white and blue on the 4th, generally in the heinous form of stars and stripes on a misfitting vest. I got out of the habit because I felt cheesy. There is nothing about these combos that would make me feel that way.

The outfit, bike-about, really stuck out to me at first glance:

{total $304}

5 Rows Freshwater Pearls - Beautiful Petra's Etsy Shop - $25.00
Alyssa Shirt Dress - Delia's - $14.99 (Orig. $44.50)
Mossimo Patent Ballet Flats - Target - $12.99
TOTAL: $52.98

Blog Love: Mary's Wishlist

Today I wanted to point you all to Mary's Wishlist:

If you have been reading my blog for any amount of time you will have noticed references to Mary's blog. From the very first read, I knew Mary's Wishlist would be one of my all time favorites. As she says, she started the blog as "a way for me to express my love of clothing without going super-psycho and buying everything at J. Crew." Her style posts keep budget and modesty in mind.

original post here

Her writing is witty and relatable. Thus far I have discovered she and I share some of the same likes such as: Glee, J.Crew, Love Actually, AT LOFT, America's Next Top Model, Anthropologie, and Harry Potter just to name a few.

original post here

Mary has a wonderful sense of blog. And I really think that if you read this blog, you should be reading hers too.

Have any of you been following Mary's Wishlist? Any new blog loves you want to share with the rest of us? Leave a comment!

Alloy Clearance + 15% Off

I was reading See Chloe Shop yesterday, and she mentioned a few sales at Alloy. I hopped over to their clearance section and was pleasantly surprised. Here are some of the best finds:

1 - Dolman Tee - $5.09 (Orig. $14.90)
2 - Cami Flat - $8.49 (Orig. $24.90)
3 - Charleston 11" Twill Shorts - $12.74 (Orig. $29.50)
4 - High Waist Stretch Jean - $12.74 (Orig. $39.50) - remember these? As Rachel Zoe would say, I die.
5 - Zebra Running Tee - $5.09 (Orig. $19.90)
6 - Cropped Military Jacket - $16.99 (Orig. $49.90)

I have heard that Alloy shipping costs are a bit high. I wonder what they would be like for multiple items?

To get 15% off (prices as I marked them) enter A15CPN at check out. There is also a deal to take $20 off your purchase of $75 or more use code: 20DISCA (I have no idea whether you can combine these deals).

What do you guys think? Anything catching your eye? Leave a comment!

Spied: Sequins Embellished Floral Tee

I love a Graphic Art Tees. I know you all know that. But I do. I love them. I want to own 20 of them and wear them every day. I have been eyeing this tee from Charlotte Russe for months, and now it's gone on sale, big time:

Sequins Embellished Floral Tee - Charlotte Russe $4.00 $8.00 (Orig. $16.00)

All clearance items at CR are 50% off (prices as marked), no code required. I love Extra 50% deals, they make me giddy. Peruse their sale section here.

Isn't it slightly reminiscent of this sold out J.Crew Tissue Sparkling Rose Tee? It's even got the same 'open crew neck' (almost a scoop neck but won't flash any cleavage). The colors on the CR version aren't quite as sophisticated but I think the feel is incredibly similar.

What do you guys think? Is it something you would wear? Is the 50% off clearance sale enough to get you to buy? Leave a comment!

Look for Less: J.Crew Leather Capri Sandals

I love wearing flip flops. I don't do it that often (unless I am in Alaska and dressing really casually). The thing that I don't like about the rubber flip flops I have is that they tend to make me feel a little sloppy or undone. I think these would go a long way to making me feel a bit more put together.

Neon Leather Capri Sandal - J.Crew - $49.50
Shimmerveil Leather Capri Sandals - J.Crew - $49.50
Faux Leather Thong Sandals - Old Navy - $9.50

What do you guys think of the look? Is it something you wear? How about the look for less? Leave a comment!

Inspired: Anthro Look {Sheer Billow}

Anthropologie's outfit section is full of goodies right now. Of course, not all of them are easily replicated. I think the feel of this outfit can be done on a budget, though.

{these items total up to $452}

Geometric Tunic - Kohl's - $24.99 (Orig. $34)
Braided Faux-Leather Wedges - Old Navy $25.00 (Orig. $29.50)
Square Cotton Tulip Skirt - Tulle - $26.00 (Orig. $65.00)
Pearl Linked Chains - Forever 21 - $8.80
TOTAL: $84.79

If you have a grey Shade tulip skirt from last summer, I think that would work really well in this outfit as well. I think the proportions of the loose top paired with a fitted tulip skirt are fantastic.

What do you think of the inspiration look? How about my picks? Leave a comment!
