In last week's Weekend Roundup, I mentioned the Grand Opening of a new down town consignment store, Uptown Cheapskate. I could write a lengthy love letter to the concept of consignment and how it has forever changed the way I shop.
I made my way over there on Friday afternoon and perused the store. I was impressed with both how well organized the store was (by item type, size, and then color) and well it was stocked (and of course with the prices). As it seems I always am, I was in a rush, and only had about 20 minutes to look, yet I still was able to find some (hardly used) very cute yellow flats for just $7.
According to their website:
"Uptown Cheapskate is more than a fashion exchange concept. It is an attitude, a personality, and an art form. Uptown Cheapskate empowers individuals to express themselves using brand name fashions and modern style without the typical price tag. The concept is simple really: we buy and sell your favorite brands at prices that everyone can get excited about. We’re not trying to change the world; just offer an exciting new way to shop it."

I give Uptown Cheapskate a whole hearted thumbs up. It is conveniently located half of block from the Gateway. According to reader Hannahtess, Uptown Cheapskate has parking spaces in the AMPCO parking lot behind the store and offers free 1 hour parking, so don't waste your money at the meter!

I put your cute little button on my blog. And I can not wait to go to this consignment store. I was thinking how we use to shop back in the good ole' days and we should go again sometime. I'm in need of your fashion help...
ReplyDeleteI love Uptown Cheapskate as well. I took some things to sell and was offered cash or 25% more in store credit (it's always nice to trade up my wardrobe every once in a while.) Also, Uptown Cheapskate has parking spaces in the AMPCO parking lot behind the store and offers free 1 hour parking.
ReplyDeleteHannahtess-
ReplyDeleteI am so glad that you had a chance to go in, and what a great tip about the parking. I will remember this next time I go!
Thanks for reading and the great tip!
I went in there and was amazed. It does not look like a used clothing store, at all. I am planning on going back in there as soon as I get paid because they have some of the cutest clothes at amazing prices!!
ReplyDeleteI love Uptown!!! This is my #1 place to go when I have a shopping itch. Best prices and some of the clothes even have tags on them still. I always find something I like. I just wish I had more clothes to sell for store credit... :(:(
ReplyDeleteDitto Elaine!
ReplyDeleteThis place is horrible. The owners are rude and they sometimes change the price on items after they've bought it from you and price it higher. It's completely unorganized. They have lost my friend's items before.
ReplyDeleteI love this store! I have found Seven Jeans for $18.00, and i bought a red italian leather jacked for only $27.00!!!! i am actually going shopping there again tonight, because i just cannot get enough of the store. Way to go Uptown! Plus, those models on the front window are just fine ;)
ReplyDeleteTo anonymous: Of course they price things higher than what they paid you... How else would they make money?
ReplyDeleteWell i would just like to say i love uptown so much, i just bought my junior prom dress from them and i absolutely adore it. Keep up the good work :)
