I have had a hankering for floral pants this spring. I have seen beautiful and expensive options floating around pinterest, but had zero luck finding any I wanted for less than $30. I went thrifting and struck gold.
These babies are high waisted Ralph Lauren slacks that I scored at Goodwill for $3. The best part is this was a crazy simple DIY. I literally turned the pants inside out and sewed a straight stitch down the outside of the pants (starting at the top of the waist band and ending at the hem), tried them on, looked at the parts that were not tight enough and sewed some more.
Oh, and I moved the pockets. These are seriously high waisted, like I can't see my belly button high waisted and the pockets were way too high. I moved them down and in about 2 1/2" inches. And done.
UO sling backs - $15

Such a great job. And what a steal. I love it.
ReplyDeleteThose are great! They remind me of Anthropologie's skinny floral pants. I'm so envious of your amazing thrifting find!

I am so impressed. Those look fantastic!!
ReplyDeleteLove your blog and have been reading it for a while now and I am a little surprised that this is the first time I am commenting! Those pants are too cool! I did a post on designer floral pants (that we all love) and their cheap counterparts HERE and I also refashioned an old frumpy dress from DI into a high low skirt and I have a tutorial HERE
ReplyDeleteAgain, great pants, I might just have to head over to DI to try and find some floral print pants :)

This is so great! You're giving me the courage to see potential in thrifted items I normally wouldn't. I've been eying these pair of floral jeans from Delias - http://store.delias.com/item.do?itemID=57955&categoryID=2464 - but the pattern might be too busy for me, plus I would have to buy another pair to get them for $30 each. I really just need to find a pair like you did cause $3 is amazing!
ReplyDeleteGaah! No way. They look fantastic! I just did this with a pair of white pants (had to take in the legs but let out the hips, ouch!) and was pretty proud of myself, I NEVER would have thought to do this with the "awful" floral pants at Goodwill (beautiful print, awful fit). Great refashion!
ReplyDeletethose came out so well!
ReplyDeletei always leave the crazy high waisted pants on the rack, because I just don't know what to do with a 12" rise.
Chic on the Cheap
