I Could Do That: Anthro Free Flow Tank

As soon as I saw the tutorial for the DIY ruffle front shirt at Tea Rose Home, I knew I wanted to make one. Then, I saw the Anthropologie Free Flow Tank, and decided I could utilize that technique to make a similar shirt.

I am in the throws of the project now, and will share more details on how I did it and maybe even a picture of me in my shirt when it's done. We'll see.

  1. I've had some left over orange silk I've been thinking would make a great skirt. I hope I'll have enough.

  3. I own the tank, and while normally I'd say that it's overpriced and could easily be replicated, it really is amazing. It's silky and cut perfectly. Given my limited sewing skills, there's no way I could make my own version. To me it was worth the money. But I'm eager to see how yours turns out!

  4. So gorgeous! I have been very in the mood to diy lately myself.
I just discovered you are in Salt Lake, as am I! Not quite sure why this makes me feel so happy, but it does. You are on my list of inspiring blogs!

  6. are you planning on doing the tank as a tank top with the lace straps or as a shirt?

  7. Good question! I am doing it as a shirt, so I have the option to wear it with or without a cardi or jacket.

  11. Madeline, did you ever finish this project? It's fabulous and if it is seriously a diy success, I might have to take it up! Love your blog. Nice that someone will find the deals for me because I hate shopping...gasp...I know: it's a sin, right? :) The blog's very well put together and I like your graphics/headings. Thinkin' I need to make myself some of those!

I did finish it. But, it's not perfect for a few reasons. I didn't think a few things through before I started. Like I was sewing ruffles on a shirt with stretch, and when that shirt is on me, it stretched and the ruffles loose some of their oomph. And because its not so ruffly and an unfinished knit, it rolls. blah blah. Anyway. If I didn't it again, I would do it differently.

Thanks! I am glad you like the layout/graphics of the blog. I went through quite a few before I settled here, and I am pretty pleased.
