Refashion: Night Gown to Day Dress

To say that I am over the moon with this refashion might be the understatement of the year. Contrary to the appearance of the photo, I did not lose 40 lbs. I just took a thrifted 3XL night gown and trimmed it into a sweet little day dress.

Things to look for if you want to take on a similar refashion:

To give yourself a break look for a nightgown that has finishes you can reuse. I maintained the original hem, sleeve hem, and neckline, and it saved me a lot of work. Obviously, look for a print and fabric that you like and that is in good condition (this actually still had it's original tags). In the end, belting your nightgown/dress will make all of the difference!

What do you think?

Have you refashioned anything lately? Leave a link so we can all check it out!

  9. Hi. Do you have directions to how you sewed this? I can't figure it out. (I'm a beginner sewer) Did you leave it size 3xl and just belt it or did you cut it somewhere and re-sew it to make it slightly more fitted? (as well as belting) How did you do the sleeves? You have a lot of great projects on your blog but the tutorials on how to do them for us beginners would be amazing! Thank you.
