Spied: Anthropologie Plaza Cardigan Look-a-Like

Last year, I got a request from Chloe to find a Anthropologie Plaza cardigan look-a-like (which was originally priced at $128.00). I found an option that was similar, but not a perfect match. This season, INC has come up with a dead ringer, and it's on sale!

INC Three Quarter Sleeve Ruffle Front Long Cardigan - Macy's - $44.99 (Orig. $79.00)

Look for Less: Anthropologie Well-Wisher Jacket

This fall, the military trend is definitely in. And of course, ruffles have been in and continue to be hot for fall. This asymmetrical ruffle military jacket from Anthropologie is beautiful, and also ridiculously expensive. That is why I was so excited to spot this option from Wet Seal:

Well-Wisher Jacket - Anthropologie - $148.00
Asymmetrical Ruffle Jacket - Wet Seal - $22.50

Although some of the luxury of the original is missing, it's machine washable. I also noticed this more sophisticated Ruffled Military Jacket from Kohl's for just $49.99 (Orig. $72.00).

I think I might be slightly obsessed with blazers. Ok, I know I am. I saw this on J.Crew's website last week, and I started drooling. I wish I could justify spending $300 on a blazer.

Tweed Harriet Blazer - J.Crew - $298.00

Spied: Jersey Blazer

I have been obsessed with the idea of knit blazers for months. They are seriously one of the best pieces of clothing invented. Last year I was coveting a GAP knit blazer that was $60, and ended up splurging on a $50 option from Urban Outfitters. Last week this little lady popped up on my radar:

Jersey Blazer - Kmart - $18.00 {yep, it's under $20}

The buttons may be a little juvenile, but with just 6 of them, they are easily replaced.

Shade Clothing: New Arrivals + Liquidation

Shade Clothing is continuing with their liquidations. They have had several local sales and are trying to move merchandise out of their stores quickly. I received an email this weekend telling me that they were still releasing a few new styles (online and in select stores) and that they had some new markdowns.

I was pretty impressed with the new items. I was reminded of some of the great things to come out of Shade over the past few years. This whole thing is such a shame.

Here are my favorite new arrivals:

Jersey Empire Dress - $32.99 (Orig. $36.50)
Striped Button Tee - $21.99 (Orig. $24.50) {reminds me a bit of Anthro's yardarm tee}
Ruffle Dress - $34.99 (Orig. $38.50) {also available in the delightful sky color}

What do you guys think? Any of these things catching your eye? Leave your thoughts below.

Friday Wishlist: Anthropologie Pick A Bunch Cardi

I saw this cardigan in the July Anthropologie catalog, and I fell in love with it. The color pallet is definitely more suited for fall, which in some ways I am getting excited for. I kind of miss wearing my flat brown boots.

Pick A Bunch Cardi - Anthropologie - $128.00

Look for Less: Jimmy Choo Pantent Round-Toe Pump

As I have mentioned before, I think every woman should own a pair of basic nude pumps. I have been fed up with the lack of good options in a reasonable price range. You guys have no idea how happy I was when I stumbled on these pumps at Target. And even happier when I realized that they were a pretty good match for these Jimmy Choos.

Jimmy Choo Patent Round-Toe Pump - Bergdorf  Goodman - $665.00
Mossimo Versie Pumps - Natural Patent - Target - $29.99

Spied: Suede Pump With Perforated Toe

I noticed these shoes a few weeks ago, and keep going back to look at them.

Suede Pump With Perforated Toe - Charlotte Russe - $22.50

I love that the details have a touch of vintage with the modern twist of metallic. And isn't that heel divine? Reminds me of Jessica Rabbit, not entirely sure why.

Can't Get Enough: Animal Print

Lately, I have been totally loving animal prints. Cheetah print, especially, never goes out of style (Ask Michael Kors. He said it once, and I listened). I also had a reader ask about reasonable priced animal prints.

And the Winner Is....

I had a great time hosting the giveaway from Ruche last week. Thank you for all your comments, it was so fun! The winner is lucky number 15,

JFo

A big thank you to all of you for participating.

Inspired: Ann Taylor {Asymmetry + Silk}

I started oogling this Ann Taylor outfit a few weeks ago.

{$536}

Here are the pieces I think echo the feel:

Sleek Linen Tie Jacket - bebe - $44.95 {I also found this fantastic option from J.Crew for $69.99}
Lightweight Boat-Neck Tee - $12.50 (Orig. $14.50)
Braided Skinny Belt - Forever 21 - $2.50
Tailee Peep-Toe Dress Heels - Kohl's - $28.99 (Orig. $49.99) {also available in white + black}
Twisted Elegance Necklace - Forever 21 - $6.80
Zippered Pocket Skinny Jeans - Forever 21 - $14.50
TOTAL: $110.24

One of the greatest challenges I had in recreating this outfit was trying to find nude shoes on a budget. I love love love nude shoes and was lucky enough to thrift a beautiful pair of vintage nude heels, but realize that opportunity doesn't arise for everyone. I do like the shoes I found, but they aren't quite as understated as I would like. You win some, you lose some.

Spied: Chiffon-Charmeuse Tiered Tanks

I love tiered clothing (tops, skirts, and cardigans). I especially like tiered tops that are a more tiered than ruffled. I stumbled on this top this weekend and was instantly taken with it. I love that the alternating textures resemble stripes.

Chiffon-Charmeuse Tiered Tanks - Old Navy - $16.50 {also available in plus}

Friday Wishlist: Stripe Sequin Boatneck Tee (in pink)

I bet you are all tired of listening to me faun over sequin stripe shirts, but I just can't help it, really. And today I got an email from J.Crew telling me that they are offering 20% off all womens tees + knits (limited time). So, I just wanted to see what my beloved shirt's price had dropped to. The bad news is that the navy color is completely sold out. The good new is the pink option, which I find quite charming, is now a fairly reasonable price:

Stripe Sequin Boatneck Tee - J.Crew - $39.99 (Orig. $72.00)

Spied: Kmart Oxfords

You guys probably remember my post on oxfords a few months ago. I still really want a pair, but I haven't found the right pair yet. I was really excited when I stumbled on this amazing deal at Kmart.

Attention Shayla Oxfords in Cognac, Black + White - $9.99 (Orig. $16.99)

$10! So crazy. And apparently white oxfords are kind of hard to find, so this is doubly great.

What do you think? Is this price enough to get you to try this trend? Leave your thoughts below.

Shake up at Shade

I got this puzzling little email from Shade Clothing in my inbox this morning.

I was so confused. Were they going under? Chelsea Rippy, the founder, released this letter this afternoon:

{click thumbnail to read}

And to top it off, the crazy sale prices of last week have now all increased by a fair margin. Why did I not buy one of those belts and a striped tee?!

What do you guys think of the news? Are you as sad as I? Leave your thoughts below.

Reader Request: Girls Back to School Clothes

Looking for more outfit ideas for your little girl? Click here.

I got a request yesterday from Angie saying,
Hi Madeline! I have been looking for new clothes for my kids before school starts, but I'm having a hard time finding cute things for my girls. The 80's, rock-star, punky t-shirt fashions are everywhere and can I just say, UGH?! I love your style as it is very similar to my own. I'd like my girls to also dress more femininely, but can't find what I'm looking for without paying a fortune at J.Crew! I'd love to see some tips on your blog featuring back-to-school kids clothes, if you have time! Thanks!!

So I went on a hunt for girls pieces that fit my style (and hopefully a little bit of the crewcut style {check out their outfits for more inspiration}).

I found these great girls outfits over at HGT81, Forever21's kids section. My favorite aspects of these adorably accessible outfits are the fun pattern play, the awesome use of layering, the slim pants, the cute accessories, and the use of simple flats. I pulled together a few pieces that could mix and match with pieces your kids already have.

1 - Thin Satin Floral Headband - Forever 21 - $3.80
2 - Striped Boatneck Top - HGT81 - $6.00 (Orig. $7.90)
3 - Leopard Fiona Ballet Flat - Payless - $14.99 {BOGO is in full swing, so I suggest getting more than 1 pair}
4 - Solid Knit Leggings - HGT81 - $4.25 (Orig. $4.90)
5 - Classic Construction Jeggings - HGT81 - $7.00 (Orig. $10.90)
6 - Striped Sweater Cardigan - HGT21 - $10.00 (Orig. $16.90)
7 - If The Shoe Fits Tee - HGT21 - $12.90 {similar here}
8 - Floral Stitched Peasant Top - HGT81 - $14.90
9 - Woven Flowered Top - HGT81 - $5.99 (Orig. $16.90)
10 - Twinkling Toes Tee - HGT81 - $12.90
11 - Sweet Gingham Woven Shirt - HGT81 - $19.90
12 - Stamped Foliage Tunic - HGT81 - $12.90
13 - Little Bow Hair Clips - Forever 21 - $2.50

And did you notice everything is under $20 (and all but one are under $15)? I feel pretty good about that. Any tips you all want to share about getting a more sophisticated look for your daughter without breaking the bank? And of course any sale tips are always appreciated. Leave your thoughts below.
